Holding, Feeling, Healing explores the reality of empathetic pain, reflecting the artist’s experience as an art therapist trainee working with adolescent females
impacted by complex trauma.

The installation navigates the intersubjective nature of therapeutic relationships, where space is created for vicarious resilience, compassion satisfaction and mutual healing. It allegorically represents the containment of psychological distress and the processing of empathetic pain through mindfulness, reflection and spirituality.
Embodying the artist’s cultural identity, the artwork symbolises the continuous journey of supporting and holding clients’emotional landscapes, while also grapplingwith the vicarious experiences inherent in trauma-informed art therapy practice.
